General Election 2017 - GE17
Tuesday, November 7th, 2017
Polls open for voting from 6am-9pm
Voting by Absentee Ballot.
If you will be away from Columbia County on Election Day you may vote by Absentee Ballot.
If you think that you might be away, get the absentee ballot.
(If you wind up being in the County on Election Day, you must go to the poll and vote there. The Absentee Ballot will be voided).
There are two steps to voting by Absentee Ballot
- You must first file an Absentee Ballot Application.
- Download the Absentee Ballot Application here.
- You will then receive the actual Absentee Ballot to vote.
You can file the Absentee Ballot Application, BY MAIL or IN PERSON.
BY MAIL has a lot of chances to go wrong and to not have your vote counted.
*BEST CHOICE*
IN PERSON (Over-the-Counter Voting) is much less complicated.
If you can get to the Board of Elections in Hudson, it is definitely the best way to go.
IN PERSON (Over-the-Counter)
When applying in person at the Board of Elections (BOE), the Absentee Ballot Application is filed and your Absentee Ballot is voted and completed all in the same process. File your Absentee Ballot Application (they are also available there) and you will then be given the actual Absentee Ballot to mark and then seal in an envelope and sign. DONE!
To Vote IN PERSON (Over-the-Counter) go to:
Columbia County Board of Elections (BOE),
401 State Street, Hudson
The Board of Elections is open Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm
Absentee voting is available:
- during regular BOE hours: 8am-4pm
- during extended Thursday BOE hours: Oct 26 and Nov 2, until 7pm
